TRUSSVILLE’S COMMUNITY CAROLING & TREE LIGHTING EVENT SET TO CAP OFF THANKSGIVING WEEKEND

The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce announces the second annual Community Caroling & Tree Lighting, set to take place Sunday, November 29, 4:30 until 6:00 p.m., on The Mall in the heart of Trussville’s historic Cahaba Project neighborhood.
“As the Thanksgiving weekend winds down, we’ll be kicking off the Christmas season with some old-fashioned family fun,” said June Mathews, the chamber’s executive director. “Last year’s event was a huge success, and we expect this one to be even better.”
A memory-making combination of musical entertainment, caroling, kids’ activities, pictures with Santa, and simply sharing the joy of the season will culminate in the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree at 5:30 p.m.
The entire event, said Mathews, is the result of a community effort coordinated by the Trussville Chamber. Major contributors include the City of Trussville, the Trussville Tribune, First Baptist Church Trussville, Trussville Gas & Water, and Trussville First United Methodist Church.
Booth space will be made available to chamber members only, free-of-charge, but in lieu of a participation fee, each vendor is expected to provide a free kids’ activity for all to enjoy. Call the chamber office for more information.
A new addition to the tree area this year is a Christmas Memory Bench donated by the Trussville Historical Society. The bench will serve as a photo op spot for family and friends throughout the holiday season.
“We’re thrilled with the excitement this event is generating, especially since this is only the second time we’ve done it, and last year’s event was pretty low-key,” said Mathews. “It’s a great way to get into the holiday spirit and, goodness knows, after a year like 2020, we can all use a big dose of that.”
