The First Annual Animal Welfare Prevention Fest

The First Annual Animal Welfare Prevention Fest is Saturday, July 18, 2026, 10 AM to 4 PM at Black Creek Park in Fultondale. Hosted by Animal-Angels Foundation (AAF), a prevention-first animal welfare nonprofit serving seven counties in Central Alabama, the event brings 33 partner activity stations across six zones together for one day.

Most pet surrender begins before the shelter. Families lose pets to vet bills they cannot pay, pet deposits they cannot afford, behavior problems that go unaddressed, or housing transitions where pets get left out of the plan. Prevention Fest puts the help upstream, before the surrender call.

What attendees will find:

  • Wellness Zone: free microchipping, vaccinations, and SNIP enrollment with partner vets
  • Education Zone: behavior, training, and pet-inclusive housing resources
  • Adoption Zone: meet partner shelters and rescues
  • Fun Zone: face painting, dog hydration stations, kids activities
  • Fundraising Zone: supporting AAF’s Bridge program for families in crisis
  • Logistics Zone: food, water, restrooms, event services

Family-friendly. Leashed, vaccinated pets welcome on the grounds.

Businesses interested in joining Prevention Fest as a sponsor or community partner can reach out through animal-angelsfoundation.org/PreventionFest.html.
